INGINEUS analyses the dynamics of Global Innovation Networks (GINs) by exploying a portfolio of different methodologies. It develops:

• Rigourous econometric analyses of statistically representative samples of firms in both advanced and emerging economies
• In-depth case studies of firms, universities and other agencies

The project combines the analysis of exsisting databases with the collection of new data, at micro and meso level, through a firm-level survey. The survey aims to gather new indicators that allow INGINEUS to compare industries across different regions to:

• Understand what type of innovative activities are conducted in different regions and countries
• Understand the human and technological capabilities required for the different activities and how these capabilities are accumulated over time
• Understand the role of the national and regional systems that support the upgrading and internationalisation process of the firm, including the role of university-industry relationships
• Capture different modes of insertion into GINs
• Assess the effects of globalisation on competitiveness, growth perfornance and employment of firms, industries and regions
